This gift is for horrificwhisper over at LJ for round 2 of ~zeldaexchange. Originally I wanted to do a different request, but it turned out what I had in mind wasn't her request. Penciling gave me the most trouble because I'm not used to drawing neither of the poses and, holy cow, Hylian Shield has too many decorations. The Sheikah symbol's a pain to draw too especially when I tried to follow the contour the chest, which I didn't do well at all. Coloring was relatively painless even though the colors of the figures aren't really correct given the dusky background.
*nna's awesome compositions inspired me to try something similar, i.e. close up and full figure in one pic. When I first lay the individual figures together, it looked rather disjointed, but the enemies in the background helped to unify the picture.
I think I like this version of Sheik a lot more than my last attempt. No womanly hips this time because I totally avoid drawing them, but I got to draw Link's butt instead. XD
Nice job on Sheik, it's really hard to make him manly looking. Most people I see draw him really girly. Yay for pecs! I especially like those monsters in the background. Haha, they add quite a foreboding atomsphere to the picture.
Wow that is totally different than what I was expecting from the preview image. Looking good though! I can imagine Sheik is really tough to draw because of the lack of neck and all but you pull it off nicely! I love the Link though... so much detail so I give you serious props for that and the interesting angle.
;o; ahaha I don't know who this fellow is, except for linky there in right (which I remember from a lj post a while back!)
I love the coloring and again, detail you put in to pictures are always so nicely done! ^^ *goes back to playing hourglass* ...yes I'm still not done x_x;;
Hehe, as always thank you so much for your support!! Even though my brain died after I finished the pic, it was still a lot of fun to color. Doing the lineart, on the other hand, wasn't so fun. XD
Sheik is from Ocarina of Time who is Zelda in disguise. There are huge and very heated debates among fans whether Sheik is male or female, Zelda or separate person, etc. etc. I actually don't really care one way or another, but it's still weird to write just "he" or "she" so I write "he/she" instead. XD
Heehee, I wanted to save the surprise until the very end. It wouldn't be fair if my friends don't get to fully enjoy the final pic. The most trouble I had drawing Sheik was the torso; I wanted it to turn a bit to the right and with the right arm rising up while the left arm swings back a bit. I really struggled with the anatomy in that respect, but since I always draw the body first before putting the clothes on, the lack of neck in the final version didn't bother me so much. I also wanted a slight top to bottom tilt, but that didn't work.
I really liked how Link turned out in this pic so thanks for noticing him! :3 The design on the shield was troublesome because of the perspective and the shield being curved, but luckily I got PS to fix stuff. XD
